The leaders of 20th Dundee Girls' Brigade write ....

From the 8th-10th May, the 20th Dundee Girls’ Brigade visited The Compass Christian

Centre in Glenshee for their 2026 camp. 27 girls, ranging from Primary 4 to S2, and 7

leaders attended the action packed weekend.

The girls got to try indoor rock climbing, kayaking, a high ropes course and zip lining. They

also took part in various team building activities, including guiding each other through an

obstacle course while one person was blindfolded! All of the girls threw themselves into the

activities, even if it was a little scary at times!

For many of these girls, this was the first time they had been to camp, or even away from

home without their parents, so it was a weekend of firsts for many of them. Our girls come

from varying backgrounds and it was amazing to see the girls come together and embrace

these opportunities.

All of the leaders were very impressed with the girls over the weekend, not only by how they

took on the challenging activities but also how they helped and encouraged each other

throughout the camp.

The girls were asked to write down the best thing about camp, some of the answers were ‘I

got to make new friends’, ‘I got to try something I had never done before’ and ‘I did things I

didn’t know I could!’. These answers make it all worthwhile, to see how much confidence,

new skills, independence and friendships the girls gained from being at camp.

We would not have been able to undertake the camp at all, had it not been for the additional

funding we managed to raise. So from all of the Girls and Leaders who attended, we want to

say a massive thank you!
