An update from Neil Campbell -
As part of the Presbytery Mission Plan process, decisions were made about whether to retain or dispose of each church building across Dundee Westgait. Perth Presbytery, with the agreement of Dundee Westgait Kirk Session, has asked me to carry out an independent review of the building categorisations for the Roseangle and Shaftesbury Terrace buildings.
The agreed task is to review the two buildings and develop a recommendation based on mission, about which one (at most) should be retained. The initial aim was to complete this by the end of 2025, and while I may not finish before then, I am committed to completing the review as soon as possible without rushing what is a sensitive and complex matter.
So far, I have:
Reviewed background information and the current Presbytery Mission Plan.
Held constructive meetings with the Kirk Session and Community.
Begun conversations with a wide range of interested parties across the West End.
Thank you to everyone who attended the meetings and participated.
Common themes that emerged include:
Accessibility & Transport
Community Relationships
Finance & Resources
Mission & Worship
I will keep you updated as the review progresses and appreciate your prayers and support as we work together on this important decision.
If you represent a Community Group who meet at our Shaftesbury Terrace (formerly Logie & St John's (Cross)) or Roseangle (formerly Dundee West) buildings, or a group who is looking for space to meet in the West End, please complete the following anonymous form to provide your views, before Friday 12th December.
